MJW Chardonnay

Voyager Estate MJW Chardonnay is the pinnacle of Voyager Estate Chardonnay. MJW are the initials of Michael J Wright, who acquired Voyager Estate in 1991 and built its reputation for quality.

Until the release of the 2016 vintage, the wine was bottled under the Tom Price label. After Michael J Wright's passing, his daughter Alexandra Burt and winemaker Steve James renamed it in his honour.

The wine blends fruit from vineyard blocks grown in extremely gravelly soils. The result is well balanced vines that produce fruit distinctly reflective of Margaret River and its pristine coastal location.

The fruit from each block is vinified separately. It is chilled overnight before whole bunch pressing and natural yeast fermentation over several weeks. Select parcels also undergo malolactic fermentation.

Maturation occurs in one third new French oak barrels over 12 months with monthly lees stirring. Selected barrels mature for a further three months in stainless steel.

Pale straw, Voyager Estate MJW Chardonnay has layers of vibrant citrus flavours with subtle spice, fine texture and savoury elements. It finishes with a clean mineral edge.

A wine of purity, power and longevity. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
